Thank you for this opportunity to honor Winn. She talked about her girls so often and was so proud of them.
I first met Winnifred 25 years ago when she adjudicated my students in Everett. I loved her spunkiness and was thrilled when she moved to Lake Stevens. After that move we kept in touch, going to the opera together, having lunch, and sharing advice for my voice students. Winn was so gracious to present a free master class at the college where I taught, and let me bring my students to her for coaching. She also attended performances of mine, sometimes helping me in final preparation for those. Even though she was disappointed, Winn took her setbacks in stride, setting an example for all of us. I am privileged to have known her and called her a friend.
